ABOUT US

Founded in 2017 by Colorado native Megan Banich, Next Generation Landscapers was built on one core belief: landscaping should improve the land and work with nature — not against it. Today, we are proud to be one of the leading landscaping companies in Boulder. What makes us different is our focus on regenerative landscaping — restoring soil health, increasing biodiversity, improving water retention, and strengthening ecosystems over time.

Many landscapes are maintained year after year but continue to decline beneath the surface. Regenerative landscaping interrupts that cycle. Instead of simply sustaining what remains, we rebuild soil structure, support living systems, and create landscapes that grow stronger each season.

We also believe our environmental responsibility extends beyond design. In 2023, we transitioned to 90% battery-powered equipment to reduce noise, emissions, and overall impact on the communities we serve. It’s a practical step that reflects our larger commitment to regenerative and eco friendly landscaping practices.

THE MISSION

I believe that without purpose, work becomes meaningless. Without purpose, there’s no passion, no pride, and no real love for what you do. Thankfully, our purpose at Next Generation Landscapers is bigger than ourselves. Our goal is simple: to help change the way modern landscaping is done and fight like hell to restore healthier ecosystems for future generations.

Our mission is to advance regenerative landscaping throughout Colorado through thoughtful design, responsible land stewardship, and long-term ecological care. We create eco-friendly landscaping systems that improve soil health, support biodiversity, conserve water, and reduce unnecessary chemical inputs.

The difference between sustainable landscaping and regenerative landscaping is simple: sustainable landscaping maintains the land, while regenerative landscaping improves it over time.

When landscaping ignores soil biology and ecosystem function, the land slowly weakens. Soil becomes compacted. Biodiversity declines. Water runs off too quickly instead of being absorbed back into the earth. Over time, the ecosystem loses resilience. We take a different approach — one rooted in soil health, plant vitality, water retention, and working with nature instead of against it.

MEGAN BANICH

Megan Banich grew up in Colorado with a deep respect for its climate, terrain, and natural systems. From a young age, she was passionate about science — fascinated by how soil supports life, how water moves through land, and how ecosystems respond to small changes. Landscape design became her way of bringing creativity and science together in the real world, solving everyday problems both big and small, with a bit of unconventional thinking.

As a certified landscape designer serving Boulder County, Colorado, Megan Banich brings formal training from the New York Institute of Art and Design, ongoing international studies through QC Career School (2026), and additional local coursework focused on regenerative design, sustainability, and fire-wise landscaping. She also completed soil advocate training through Kiss the Ground, deepening her expertise in regeneration, carbon sequestration, and soil biology. The principles highlighted in the Common Ground movement further reinforced her belief that rebuilding soil systems is both a climate solution and a community solution.

In 2017, she founded Magic Beans Landscaping to move beyond conventional landscaping methods that focus only on surface appearance. In 2021, she expanded that mission with Next Generation Landscapers, focusing on regenerative landscaping for clients in Boulder and Denver Metro, Colorado who value long-term land health. Her entrepreneurial spirit drives her to build something different — not just a landscaping company, but a land-based solution rooted in science, stewardship, and thoughtful design.

Her work is centered on soil systems, biodiversity, water management, and responsible land stewardship. Landscaping, in her view, should do more than look beautiful — it should leave the land stronger than it was found, improving ecosystem function while creating spaces that are both resilient, purposeful, and beautiful.
